I have moved to NYC for my master's at NYU Steinhardt. I am available for any performance opportunities, events, or students looking for private lessons.
Additionally, I play on a semi-regular basis with guitarist Michael Junkins, Wingspan, and other artists in the Berkshires
When I am back in North Carolina (usually June, August, and December) I play for private events, at jam sessions, and at the Sharp 9 Gallery in Durham.
I have been exposed to a multitude of musical traditions each with their own conventions and cultural connections.
I am mainly versed in the jazz musical tradition, but also have studied the tabla, a percussion instrument of the Hindustani classical music tradition, with Devesh Chandra and have performed in fusion contexts both at the Silkroad Global Musicians Workshop with Edward Perez, Marcus Printup, and Kala Ramnath.
I have experience playing in the funk, pop, rap, and R&B genres as well, these being the musical soundtrack of my childhood. During my time at Williams I played in Latin American musical groups and a Zimbabwean marimba band.
I write my own music, drawing on the influences listed above along with inspiration from my life experiences and other beautiful things and people I have encountered.
In addition to my teachers I have also had the honor and privilege of being mentored by some extremely prominent musicians on the jazz scene during my time working at the Litchfield Jazz Camp. These mentors include Dave Ballou, Paul Bollenback, Don Braden, Mike DiRubbo, Jimmy Greene, Andrew Hadro, Russ Johnson, Cailey O'Doherty, and Albert Rivera.
I am also extremely grateful for the advice and guidance of JD Allen, Jerry Bergonzi, Jim Ketch, and Dick Oatts who have always been supportive and extremely helpful as mentors and role models.
Just reach out to me via email or text (available on the Contact page) and I am happy to schedule a lesson online or in-person (depending on your location). I usually offer either 30 min or 1 hour long sessions but this is flexible depending on the situation.
I am knowledgable about a variety of techniques and styles pertaining to the saxophone and I would have a lot more to offer to serious saxophone students. Nevertheless, students of any instrument at any level can reach out regarding lessons. I am happy to help however I can!
For performance bookings, please reach out to me on email, text, or just give me a call (info on Contact page). I am happy to provide music for any occasion: the more information you can give me about the gig, the more I can do to make the performance extra special!
Additionally, I am happy to compose pieces for any occasion. I have experience writing music for various ensemble sizes and drawing on various influences. Fees are negotiable!
